Di Huxley is a University Lecturer, middle distance coach and former TIS Athletics Coach. She was Team Manager for the Australian Athletics Team in 2000, and presented her paper at the International Council for Coaching Excellence (ICCE) Global Coach Conference in July 2017 in the UK.
Di is passionate about education having taught and lectured in science, sport and health & fitness for over 30 years. Di’s main sporting interest is Track and Field (T&F) and she has been involved in athletics for most of her life from grassroots through to the Olympic level either as an athlete, coach or manager.
As T&F Manager for multiple Australian Teams (including Paralympic, Olympic and Commonwealth Games & World Track and Field Championships) and as a High Performance Coach at the Australian (AIS), New South Wales (NSWIS) and Tasmanian(TIS) Institutes of Sport, Di has successfully coached, supported and guided many elite athletes through both the highs and lows of their sporting careers.
Combining her love of learning and extensive experience in elite T&F, Di is currently completing her PhD through the University of Sydney looking at the holistic development and career transitions of Australian Olympic T&F athletes. The study hopes to provide both some robust evidence and a deeper understanding of the elite athlete mindset in Australian T&F as a platform for the design, delivery and evaluation of future elite programs.
