Member Protection Information Officers (MPIO) - WORKSHOP

MPIOs are a proactive way of managing the rights of members in your sport.  Having a dedicated person who is well versed with your sport's member protection policy can be a pre-emptive strategy in managing concerns, complaints and member protection matters.

MPIOs advise club members on their rights and can provide guidance on complaint procedures.  Every sport should consider having at least one trained MPIO in each region,  Larger sports may require more.  There are three steps to becoming a Play by the Rules recognized MPIO:

  1. Complete an online MPIO training course through the Play by the Rules learning portal
  2. Complete a free of charge face-to-face MPIO workshop - see below
  3. Register as an MPIO nationally through www.playbytherules.net.au

Sport and Recreation will be conducting its next MPIO face-to-face workshop:

  • Hobart - 6.00-9.00pm Thursday 9 May - Domain Athletics Centre. Register at https://guestli.st/605325
  • For further information contact Al Adams on 6165 5094 or al.adams@communities.tas.gov.au
  • Complaint Handling Workshop - CSR has listened to your feedback - hold the date - 25 July
  • Further MPIO Workshops are planned in September in Launceston and Penguin
