The Tasmanian Road Walking Championships were held in perfect conditions in the sleepy town of Tunbridge, on 28 July 2018.
The day started off with the Over 40 10km and U20 10km.
Anna Blackwell (OVA) was just outside her PB in 57.49 to win the U20 event.
Steve Ahern (OVA) was the first Over 40 Male in a PB time of 61.25, followed a short time later by Wayne Fletcher (NS), who broke the State Age 5 km and 10 km events in 80.55.
Ron Foster (Masters) finished behind him in a time of 88.41.
The stage was set for the junior races, and although the entry numbers were small, the enthusiasm was wonderful. Walker of the day must go to William Roberston (OVA), who blitzed his personal best to record a time of 23.38 in his U16 5 km, which would have seen him win the Gold in last years Nationals. A great feat, so rock on Nationals.
Chloe Ahern (OVA) continues to perform really well in taking out both the U14 3km and the U16 5km times in personal best times. Demi Petterwood (NH) came second to Chloe in the 3 km event.
Not to be outdone, Bryce Lawson (NH) won the U14 3km in a personal best time.
Macie Petterwood claimed the U12 2km event and young Oliver Morgan (OVA)
won the U12 2 km in a great time of 12.52.
Many thanks to the officials and families that assisted on the day.
